An entry level technical position, research associate 1, is available
immediately in the new Nucleic Acid Shared Resource of the OSU Comprehensive
Cancer Center specialized in DNA Sequencing, Genotyping, Real-Time PCR,
DNA/RNA Extraction, and Imaging.
The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary laboratory group
consisting currently of three research associates and two senior research
associates. Initially, the successful candidate will be trained in DNA
Sequencing and Genotyping. Then, gradually, the candidate will be
cross-trained in all the functions of the Shared Resource (Real-Time PCR,
DNA/RNA Extraction, and Imaging).
The candidate will perform DNA Sequencing and Genotyping on ABI 3730
Analyzers, will perform Real-Time PCR on the ABI 7900 Sequence Detection
System, will isolate and purify total RNA and genomic DNA on the ABI 6100
Nucleic Acid PrepStation, will support Imaging Systems, such as the Typhoon
9410 and the Personal Densitometer (both GE), will analyze data, will
perform quality checks on data, will maintain lab equipment, will interact
with researchers to assist in data analysis, presentation, interpretation,
evaluation, and troubleshooting, will maintain lab notebooks, and will
archive data.
Required Qualification:
A Bachelor¹s Degree or equivalent with appropriate experience and computer
literacy are required, communication and writing skills are important,
should be highly organized and self motivated, should have the ability to
work independently and in a team. Experience in molecular biology is a
distinct advantage (DNA Sequencing, Genotyping, Real-Time PCR, DNA/RNA
Extraction).
